 This temple is considered as the mother of all temples, and the islands most important shire. Located on the slope of Mt. Agung ( 3142 meters high ), the temple is 1000 meters above the sea. Built in the early 11th Century, as a focal point for Balinese Hindus, Besakih is a complex of about 30 temples, with every district on the island maintains its own temple within this complex. This temple is an architectural structure incorporating the holy triad of temples, honoring the Hindu trinity. Stone steps lead up through seven rising terraces to a godly view from the top. This well preserved temple was miraculously saved from several violent eruption of Mt. Agung.
BUKIT JAMBUL
Along your journey from Besakih, take in the clean fresh air, enjoy the lush green scenery of Bukit Jambul where the clove trees are covered in flowers and magnificent plant life adorns. For a cultural perspective, watch the traditional farmers working in their terraced rice fields. Situated on the hill top lies Puri Boga Restaurant where you can enjoy a meal in the highlands with coconut trees and terraced rice fields surrounding you. The view is breathtaking.
LAKE BUYAN
For the nature lovers you must visit the village of Daseng. Its a quiet little village on the side of Lake Buyan. Under the big trees along the lakeshore are large stones where you can sit and enjoy the magnificent view with the forest and mountains in the background. Chances are youll be there all by yourself, listening to the sounds of nature. The only activities youre likely to see are those of a few fishermen in their small wooden canoes, fishing in the traditional manner with hooks and rods.
YEH POH
Sitting on the slopes of three hills, 500 meters above sea level, this village possesses both beautiful scenery and culture heritage. The main attraction, situated a short hike to the north of the village is a spectacular waterfall towering up as high as 30 meters. The view along the way to the waterfall is very typically Balinese. Terraced rice fields dominate the scenery, with lush patches of clove, cassava, mango, and other orchards. This area is still dominated by tropical rain forest and is the home to many wild creatures such as squirrels, forest chickens, various species of birds, and long tail monkeys. Located nearby is a sacred fresh water spring that the locals believe has a certain magical power. Accordingly, it brings good luck to anyone who bathes with its water and in order to take the water home one has to store it in a piece of bamboo.
